Why weekday guard hours changed this year
In 2026, the calendar gives us an extra week between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which raises our costs with Trident, the company that the neighborhood pays for pool management and certified lifeguards. To offset that and keep the budget in line with last year, the Board removed weekday guard hours for the stretch before CMS's last day of school and at the end of summer, once school is back in session. We chose those hours because resident use on weekdays when CMS is in session has been traditionally low, so it was the place we could trim costs with the least impact. This was a budget decision that resulted in saving several thousand dollars for the season. We know the change affected some of you, and we will review this part of the schedule again next year with your feedback in hand.
A few related points worth clearing up. Certified guards are required at all times the pool is in use due to the deep end. During swim team practices, the team pays for its own guards and coaches, so those hours do not impose a cost on the neighborhood. This season, Wynfield has 3 home meets where the pool closes early to residents, a long-standing practice among the neighborhood teams in our league.
From your neighbors on the Board
Everyone involved in the Board, the pool committee, and the swim team is an unpaid volunteer who wants Wynfield to be a great place to live, just the same as you do. Thank you for helping us keep the pool safe and welcoming all summer.
Warm regards,
The Board of Directors
Wynfield Property Owners Association

Pool Parties
Pool Parties will be coordinated by Trident Pool Management Company. Parties less than approximately 8 people will be allowed during regular pool hours only after appropriate notification provided to the Pool Management Company at least one week in advance regardless of whether the party members live within the community.
Weekend parties are capped at 15 guests including the member regardless of whether the party members are residents of the neighborhood. The member must coordinate with Trident and pay for 1 Lifeguard in addition to those already scheduled to work. Weekday parties may have up to approximately 40 guests and will require approval from Trident plus the payment for 2 additional Lifeguards (not including those already on duty). No parties exceeding 40 guests will be permitted.
Additionally, children’s parties will require at least one parent per every 5 children in addition to the regularly scheduled lifeguards. All parties are responsible for the clean-up and any associated damages resulting from their event. Certain “black-out” dates may apply. Absolutely no parties are to be held during the weekends of Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July holidays, or swim team events.

Wynfield Swimming Pool Rules
SAFETY FIRST! OBEY the Lifeguards at ALL times. Our Guards have the authority to enforce the following rules without question.
1. Children must be at least 13 years of age to be eligible to swim without adult supervision having passed a mandatory swim test. The test will be at the discretion of the Lifeguards, usually one length of the pool and treading water for 1 minute. Children must be 15 years old to supervise other children
2. Rubber Pants must be worn without exception by children wearing diapers, swim diapers, or otherwise not “toilet trained.” Harmful bacteria including e-coli are associated with all types of diapers. Sick children symptomatic of diarrhea should not swim within 24 hours of illness.
3. Children wearing Flotation Devices such as “swimmies”, “water-wings”, “bubbles”, lifeguard jackets, etc. are not allowed in the deep end. Adults supervising children using these devices must be in the water with the child, not on the deck. Children with flotation devices may not use the slide without direct parental supervision i.e. at the discharge area of the slide.
4. The Kiddie Pool is not supervised by a Lifeguard. Therefore, parental supervision is required at all times. The parent/guardian must be inside the baby pool gate while supervising. The Kiddie Pool is intended for young children. If crowding becomes an issue, the Lifeguards may ask older children to leave the Kiddie Pool. Safe use of water toys must be monitored by the parent/guardian.
5. Guests are permitted in the pool area only with the inviting resident. Residents are responsible for the actions of their guests. A group of more than 8 guests is considered a “Pool Party”. Refer to Rule #24 for further information. Please contact the Pool Manager for any questions that may arise.
6. Weather related issues will be addressed by the Lifeguards. If lightning is observed, the pool and surrounding area will be evacuated. When thunder is heard, only the pool will be evacuated. Swimming may resume after a minimum 45 minutes of clear conditions. When weather related conditions occur during the last hour of pool operations, the pool will close for the remainder of the day. Due to poor weather conditions, the pool may close for the day. You may contact the pool at 704.875.9641 for verification.
7. Guard room telephone usage is restricted to contacting parents and emergencies. Calls are limited to a maximum of 3 minutes enforceable by the Lifeguards. No personal calls are permitted.
8. Diving is not permitted in the pool. No back dives or front/back flips are permitted at the
pool!
9. Pool Toys may be used at the discretion of the Lifeguards. Crowded conditions may prohibit the use of some pool toys. Large floats may only be used when the pool is not crowded. Neither towels nor non pool related items (coins, paper, cans, etc.) are permitted in the pool at any time.
10. Lap Swimming - is permitted during the first and last hour of the day or when the pool is not crowded. Lifeguards will assist to put out lane lines.
11. Safety comes first at our pool. Running, pushing, wrestling, and other unsafe “horseplay” will NOT be permitted. No “leap-frog” games are allowed in the deep end. No hanging on the lane ropes is allowed. No wheels (wheelies) on pool deck.
12. Food and drinks are permitted in the pool area. However, please clean up after yourself soas to discourage unwelcome insects. ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD is allowed in the pool. Absolutely no glass is permitted anywhere in the pool facility.
13. Alcoholic beverages are permitted in the pool area. However, persons under the influence of alcohol or “other” intoxicants can be denied pool access. Glass bottles are absolutely prohibited anywhere in the pool facility.
14. Smoking and tobacco use is NOT permitted on any Wynfield property.
15. Noise levels should be kept to a minimum. Personal radios and other portable electronic devices are permitted only with the use of head or earphones. A radio is permitted on the Guard House Counter. However, the volume must be reasonably maintained.
16. North Carolina State Law mandates that no one is permitted in an unguarded pool and surrounding pool area, without the presence of a Lifeguard. In compliance, the Wynfield Homeowners Association has authorized the Huntersville Police Department to strictly enforce this law. Violators will be expelled for the remainder of the pool season.
17. Fraternizing and socializing with the Lifeguards, especially the ones working in the “stands” is not permitted.
18. Pets or companion animals with the exception of certified seeing-eye dogs are not permitted in both the pool and the pool area.
19. Personal Cleanliness is held in the highest regard. Please be considerate and shower prior to swimming. Encourage your children to use the facilities provided at the pool. Only swimsuits and appropriate pool clothing is permitted. No “street clothes” including cut-offs will be permitted.
20. Facility Cleanliness is essential. Please deposit trash in the appropriate identified locations. Trashcans are located in convenient locations on the pool deck. A recycling bin is also available for cans. All food & drink is prohibited in the pool. No gum or spitting will be tolerated. Please be considerate by using sports bottles and similar containers so as to prevent and contain potential spills.
21. Communicable illness or disease can prevent admission to the pool. Anyone having infectious diseases, excessive sunburn, open wounds, bandages, chicken pox, conjunctivitis (pink eye), nasal discharge, ear discharge, or diarrhea, will be denied access to the pool. The health department states that such issues compromise water cleanliness and potentially harm other persons in the pool.
22. Rule Enforcement is the responsibility of the Lifeguards, Pool Manager, and the Pool Committee. At the discretion of the Lifeguards and Pool Manager, violators may be prohibited from using the pool for the remaining day or for the remaining summer swim season. The following identifies general actions taken by the Lifeguards, Pool Manager, Pool committee:
-
1st violation: Expulsion from pool for remainder of day. If the community member refuses to follow Lifeguard’s instructions, the community member’s key fob will be deactivated until the community member agrees to comply with instructions.
-
2nd violation: 5-day denied pool access and documented notification to the Wynfield Board of Directors. The HOA Board members will be given names of residents who have a 2nd violation and key fobs will be deactivated.
-
3rd violation: Permanent expulsion from pool for the remainder of the season. The HOA Board members will be given names of residents who have a 2nd violation and key fobs will be deactivated.
-
Anyone violating North Carolina Law will be turned over to the Huntersville Police Department.

23. Safety Break - Although there will not typically be a safety break called every hour, the guards reserve the right to call safety break any time per their discretion. A safety would usually be called in the case where all guards on duty need to be on the stands for a full hour and therefore require a break, but guards have the authority to call this for any reason as they feel necessary. A safety break requires everyone, adults and children, to exit the pool.
